Cliff Hangers Game
You Will Need: no equipment whatsoever – hurray!
Have fun and get to know each other better as a small group with this simple game.
I have a theory that every Christian you meet is just three connections away from Cliff Richard.
For example, my maternal grandfather taught Cliff R.E. for a short time while Cliff attended the school where he worked in Hertfordshire. When I married, I discovered my new father-in-law had been buddied-up with Sir Cliff when he arrived as a new boy at their school in Surrey.
Over a cup of tea, ask your group what their random connection to Cliff Richard is, and discover your groups’ obscure brushes with fame. Do share any funny stories on our community page, and remember: the looser and more random your connection, the better!
You can play this game with other Christian celebrities – you might like to try Nicky Gumbel, Billy Graham or Graham Kendrick…
Version 2
You can also play this game with Christian conferences: what are your group’s connections to New Wine, Spring Harvest, The Keswick Convention, Soul Survivor and the many others not listed here. You might find you were at the same place, at the same time as others in your group.
Version 3
You can also play this game with churches around the world. Share random churches you have friends or relatives in, or have been to on holiday: see if there’s any overlap with anyone else in your group. It sounds random, but you might just find you all have the same godparents, or were at the same wedding in 1976 – and even if you don’t, you’ll learn all sorts of things about each other in the process.
