For Small Group Leaders (with apologies to Mother Theresa)
Small Group members are frequently entirely unaware and unappreciative of the effort you put in to make small group happen.
Love them anyway.
If you step up to lead a small group, a little voice in your head will almost certainly accuse you of being unqualified for this task.
Step up anyway.
If you are honest about your own struggles, you might worry that people may focus on you rather than relaxing and being open as you had hoped.
Strive for honesty anyway.
You may well feel like the thoughtful attention you give and the good things that you do for your group this week will most probably be forgotten by next week.
Be thoughtful and do good anyway.
Give your group your best and you will almost certainly feel it was never enough.
Give your best anyway.
For, in the end, when you step up and step out, give love and are honest, are thoughtful and do good, and give the best you can for the people in your small group, that is an act of worship between you and God.
It is always about your relationship with Him: it was never about your performance anyway.
